I am 30 years-old, and now preparing for the rest of my life. I am President of Lucent Concepts, Inc. which creates
businesses and ideas. We also provide many marketing services for small businesses and non-profits.

I have come to this point in my life in a non-traditional way. I grew up playing sports and wanting to practice law. I
received a BA in Political Science, Criminal Justice, and History from Indiana University to prepare for law school. I
attended St. Louis University School of Law while also working for a local law firm in St. Louis. During my first 2 years
(of 3) in law school, I realized I didn’t want to practice law. I felt there was something more for me to be doing. So I left
law school a year early.

I started my first business in 2006, and we opened our doors in 2007. I wasn’t ready for everything that came my
way, but I made it through. We did decide to close in short time but the lessons learned in developing the ideas and
the business were priceless. School can’t teach what you can learn in doing it yourself. I opened my marketing
company (originally under a different name) in 2007 as well. We have been steadily moving forward ever since.

My passions can be narrowed to 4 things: Sports, Health & Fitness, Politics, and Non-Profit Groups. I’m a huge
sports fan. Feel free to read my sports blog below! I take health and fitness pretty seriously, and I’m now preparing
to start running marathons again (gave it up during college and law school). I love the idea of politics, but as you
will see in my blog below, not the practice of politics. My personal political ideas are expressed in my blog. Finally, I
love working with non-profit groups! Our 2 main projects with Lucent Concepts, Inc. revolve around funding non-
profits. We try to give back as much as we can!!

I have a small family. My grandmother is doing better now after a short stint in the ICU. My parents are divorced,
but are now happily doing their own things. My older brother is married with 5 kids. My younger brother (Lance) is
working with me with Lucent Concepts, Inc. and is one of my best friends! I also want to mention my daughter (who
is 5). I love you Carter!
